My psychiatrist is refusing to diagnose me, or even discuss the possibility of me having ADHD. What can I do about this?
Unfortunately many psychiatrists are not neuro psychiatrists. In my experience many non neurological psychiatrists do not acknowledge ADHD and that it is something to be treated. Its very frustrating because it leaves very few available to diagnose.
With this in mind it is the client's responsibility to check out what type of psychiatrist they are bringing their loved one to in the first place to establish their suitability I.e. do they diagose, do they prepare reports for school or college to acquire support and benefits.
So though frustrating it's probably your psychiatrists choice where they choose to focus their work and its up to you to check their suitability.
